How to point a domain to Hostinger's nameservers

Add the domain to your Hostinger account first, then enter the names Hostinger lists for it at the domain's registrar. Nothing is copied in the switch.

Your visitors keep reaching the old host until resolvers follow the new delegation.

Is my domain's DNS at Hostinger?

Ask the pair your domain uses, with recursion off: a zone it holds comes back with the aa flag and its SOA. For a zone it doesn't hold, ns1 + ns2 say NXDOMAIN and the other pairs REFUSED.

What are Hostinger's MX records?

How to check if a website is hosted on Hostinger

Look at the site's address, not its nameservers: Hostinger's websites run on AS47583 and AS204915, while its nameservers answer from Cloudflare (AS13335).

So a domain can use Hostinger's DNS and be hosted elsewhere, or the other way round. The Hosting Checker reads the address, nameservers, CNAME and headers together.

What are Hostinger's nameservers?

Hostinger gives each site its own pair of nameservers on dns-parking.com, such as ns1 + ns2 or atlas + hyperion. Your Hostinger panel lists the two for each site, and the check on this page reads them from the domain's delegation. Each pair holds only its own zones: use exactly the two names hPanel shows for your site, never a guide's pair.

How do I change my nameservers to Hostinger?

Add the website in hPanel (Websites → Create website); Check guide then shows its pair. Replace the nameservers at the registrar with that pair; turn DNSSEC off there first. Wait up to 24 hours: Hostinger says most changes show within a few hours. Then check the zone with the tool on this page before you switch.

How long does a nameserver change to Hostinger take?

Hostinger says up to 24 hours. The real bound is the registry's NS TTL: the .com registry hands out a delegation for 2 days, so some resolvers keep asking the old nameservers that long. Keep the old host's zone answering until then, and compare both zones before deleting anything.

Can I use Hostinger's DNS without its hosting?

Only for domains registered with Hostinger. Domains registered at Hostinger get its DNS with no hosting plan, under Domains → the domain → DNS / Nameservers. A domain registered elsewhere can use Hostinger's nameservers once it's added to a hosting plan or site; Hostinger doesn't document a DNS-only service for it.

Does Hostinger support DNSSEC?

Not on its nameservers: a domain that uses Hostinger's DNS can't be signed. Turn DNSSEC off at the registrar before you point the domain to Hostinger, or validating resolvers will reject every answer. A Hostinger-registered domain on another provider's nameservers can still get DS records, under DNS / Nameservers → DNSSEC.

What are Hostinger's MX records?

Hostinger Email uses mx1.hostinger.com (priority 5) and mx2.hostinger.com (priority 10), with the SPF include _spf.mail.hostinger.com. They belong in the zone wherever the domain's DNS is hosted, so add them at the new host before you move the nameservers away from Hostinger, or mail stops reaching the mailboxes.

Is a site hosted on Hostinger if it uses Hostinger's nameservers?

Not necessarily: nameservers say where the DNS is, not the website. Hostinger's nameservers answer from Cloudflare (AS13335), while its web servers are on AS47583 and AS204915. Look up the site's address, or run the Hosting Checker, which matches the address, nameservers, CNAME and headers.

Why is Hostinger checked through Globalping?

Hostinger's nameservers are on Cloudflare's network (AS13335), and our checks run on Cloudflare Workers, which can't open a DNS connection to it. So your browser asks a Globalping probe to send the query, recursion off, and the result names the probe's city and network. An authoritative answer is the same whoever asks.

Why does Hostinger show pixel.dns-parking.com instead of ns1?

Hostinger now assigns nameservers per site. Older sites use ns1 and ns2.dns-parking.com; newer ones get named pairs such as pixel and byte, nova and cosmos or hyperion and atlas, on the same dns-parking.com. Each pair answers only for its own zones, so copy the two names hPanel shows for your site, never a pair from another guide.

Does pointing a domain to Hostinger change its email?

Yes. Hostinger says that pointing a domain through its nameservers also sets the email records to Hostinger Email. If your mailboxes are elsewhere, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, add that provider's MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records in Hostinger's DNS zone right after the switch, or new mail stops arriving.
