How to point a domain to Wix's nameservers

Add the domain to your Wix account first, then enter the names Wix lists for it at the domain's registrar. Nothing is copied in the switch.

Your visitors keep reaching the old host until resolvers follow the new delegation.

Is my domain's DNS at Wix?

Ask the pair your domain uses, with recursion off: a zone it holds comes back with the aa flag and its SOA. Wix's names sit on two address groups: every name of the zone's group answers for it, the other group's REFUSED.

What are Wix's MX records?

Wix's email is Google Workspace, sold through Wix: its MX records start with aspmx.l.google.com at priority 1, then four backups.

How to check if a website is hosted on Wix

Look at the site's address, not its nameservers: Wix's websites run on AS58182, while its nameservers answer from Google (AS15169).

So a domain can use Wix's DNS and be hosted elsewhere, or the other way round. The Hosting Checker reads the address, nameservers, CNAME and headers together.

What are Wix's nameservers?

Wix gives each account its own pair of nameservers on wixdns.net, such as ns10 + ns11 or ns14 + ns15. Your Wix account lists the two for each domain, and the check on this page reads them from the domain's delegation. Wix's docs give only examples: enter the two names your account shows. They sit on two groups that refuse each other's zones.

How do I change my nameservers to Wix?

Upgrade the site to a paid plan, and turn off DNS proxies such as Cloudflare. Connect the domain in Wix (Domains > Add an Existing Domain), then enter its two names. Wait up to 48 hours for the name servers to propagate worldwide. Then check the zone with the tool on this page before you switch.

How long does a nameserver change to Wix take?

Wix says up to 48 hours. The real bound is the registry's NS TTL: the .com registry hands out a delegation for 2 days, so some resolvers keep asking the old nameservers that long. Keep the old host's zone answering until then, and compare both zones before deleting anything.

Can I use Wix's DNS without its hosting?

Not as a separate service. Connecting a domain bought elsewhere needs a Wix site on a paid plan; domains bought from Wix use its name servers automatically. So point the nameservers to Wix only once the domain is added to your plan, then check the zone on this page before you switch.

What are Wix's MX records?

Wix's email is Google Workspace, sold through Wix, whose MX records start with aspmx.l.google.com at priority 1. They belong in the zone wherever the domain's DNS is hosted, so copy them to the new host before you move the nameservers away from Wix, or mail stops arriving.

Is a site hosted on Wix if it uses Wix's nameservers?

Not necessarily: nameservers say where the DNS is, not the website. Wix's nameservers answer from Google (AS15169), while its web servers are on AS58182. Look up the site's address, or run the Hosting Checker, which matches the address, nameservers, CNAME and headers.

Why are Wix's nameservers different for every account?

Wix shows each account its own pair, such as ns10 and ns11 or ns14 and ns15.wixdns.net. Measured live, the names sit on two address groups: a zone answers on every name of its own group and REFUSED on the other eight. So a pair copied from a guide may not hold your zone; enter the two names your Wix account shows.

Can I use Cloudflare with a Wix site?

Not as a proxy. Wix doesn't support DNS proxies like Cloudflare on a connected domain, and with Cloudflare DNS the site's A and CNAME records must be set to DNS only, not Proxied. A domain registered at Wix can use Cloudflare's nameservers, but Wix then stops managing its DNS, SSL renewal and mailboxes.
